Brief Description
A fast-growing, small to medium-sized deciduous tree with alternate, heart-shaped leaves that can vary in shape from unlobed to deeply lobed. It produces pendulous, cylindrical catkins that develop into blackberry-like fruits which turn from green to white or purple as they ripen.
Care Instructions
Thrives in full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil. It is highly adaptable to various soil types and pH levels. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system, after which it becomes relatively drought-tolerant. Prune in late autumn or winter to maintain shape and remove dead wood.
