Pampas Grass
Scientific Name: Cortaderia selloana
Plant Family: Poaceae (Grass family)
Native Region: Southern South America (especially Argentina and Brazil)

Brief Description
Pampas grass is a large, ornamental grass known for its striking, feathery plumes that resemble ostrich feathers. It typically forms dense clumps with long, narrow, arching leaves that can be sharp-edged. The plumes emerge on tall stalks, often reaching several feet above the foliage, and can range in color from silvery-white to pinkish-purple.
Care Instructions
This is a very hardy and low-maintenance plant. It thrives in full sun and can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, including poor soils, as long as they are well-drained. Once established, it is drought-tolerant. In cooler climates, it can be cut back hard in late winter or early spring to encourage new growth and remove old, dead foliage. Wear gloves and long sleeves when handling due to the sharp leaf edges.
