Surinam Cherry

Brief Description

Surinam Cherries are small, ribbed, red to deep-red fruits with 7 to 8 prominent vertical ribs. They have a thin, edible skin and juicy, tart to sweet pulp, often with a resinous undertone when unripe. Each fruit contains 1 to 3 large seeds.

Care Instructions

Surinam Cherry trees prefer full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. They are drought-tolerant once established but benefit from regular watering during dry periods, especially when fruiting. Fertilize annually with a balanced fertilizer. Pruning can be done to maintain shape and size or to encourage bushier growth.
