Carrot (seedlings)

Brief Description

Carrot seedlings are characterized by their delicate, feathery, bright green leaves, which are finely divided and fern-like in appearance. The leaves grow in a rosette pattern, emerging from a central point as the taproot develops underground.

Care Instructions

Carrots prefer full sun (at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily) and well-draining soil that is loose, sandy, and free of rocks. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply, especially during dry spells, to encourage root development. Sow seeds directly into the garden about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep, spaced 1-2 inches apart in rows 12-18 inches apart. Thin seedlings to 3-4 inches apart once they are a few inches tall. Fertilize sparingly with a balanced fertilizer if needed, but avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers which can promote leafy growth over root development. Protect from pests like carrot rust flies with row covers if necessary.
