Plumeria (Frangipani)

Brief Description

Plumeria, also known as Frangipani, is a small, deciduous tree or shrub famous for its highly fragrant, five-petaled flowers. The flowers typically have a waxy texture and come in various colors, often with a yellow center, as seen in the image. The leaves are large, elongated, and dark green with prominent veins.

Care Instructions

Plumeria thrives in full sun (at least 6 hours daily) and well-draining soil. It prefers warm climates and is sensitive to frost. Water regularly during the growing season (spring and summer), allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering drastically in fall and winter when the plant goes dormant. Fertilize every 2-3 weeks during the growing season with a high-phosphorus fertilizer. Pruning can be done to maintain shape and encourage branching.
