Peace Lily
Scientific Name: Spathiphyllum wallisii
Plant Family: Araceae
Native Region: Tropical regions of the Americas and southeastern Asia.

Brief Description
The Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) features glossy, dark green leaves that are lance-shaped and arch gracefully. It is known for its striking white spathes, which are often mistaken for flowers. The actual flowers are tiny and borne on a spadix inside the spathe. The plant forms a clumping growth habit and can vary in size depending on the variety, from small tabletop plants to larger floor plants.
Care Instructions
Peace Lilies prefer low to medium indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight which can scorch the leaves. They like to be consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and ensure good drainage. Peace Lilies thrive in high humidity, so misting regularly or using a pebble tray can be beneficial. They prefer temperatures between 65-80 F (18-27 C). Feed every 6-8 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer.
Medicinal Value
While not traditionally used for medicinal purposes in Western herbalism, Peace Lilies are known for their air-purifying qualities, effectively removing toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide. This air purification can contribute to overall well-being.
