Caladium

Brief Description

Caladiums are known for their vibrant, colorful foliage, often displaying shades of pink, red, white, and green in various patterns. The leaves are typically large and heart-shaped or lance-shaped, growing from tubers. The plant in the image shows distinct pink centers with green margins, characteristic of many Caladium cultivars. The stems appear thin and dark.

Care Instructions

Caladiums thrive in warm, humid conditions. They prefer partial shade to shade, as direct sunlight can scorch their delicate leaves. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during the growing season. Use well-draining potting mix. Reduce watering once the foliage starts to die back in the fall as the plant enters dormancy. Fertilize every 2-4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. In colder climates, tubers should be dug up and stored indoors over winter.
