Indian Borage
Scientific Name: Coleus amboinicus (syn. Plectranthus amboinicus)
Plant Family: Lamiaceae (Mint family)
Native Region: Southern and Eastern Africa, though widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide.

Brief Description
Indian Borage is a perennial herb with thick, fleshy, ovate leaves that are covered in fine, soft hairs. The leaves have a distinctive velvety texture and scalloped edges. It has a strong, pungent aroma, often described as a mix of oregano, thyme, and mint.
Care Instructions
Indian Borage prefers well-draining soil and can tolerate a range of soil types, though it thrives in slightly acidic to neutral soil. It needs full sun to partial shade; in hotter climates, some afternoon shade is beneficial. Water regularly but allow the topsoil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. It is drought-tolerant once established. It can be grown in pots or directly in the ground and is sensitive to frost, so it's often grown as an annual or brought indoors in colder regions. Pruning helps maintain shape and encourages bushier growth.
