Mulberry
Scientific Name: Morus spp.
Plant Family: Moraceae
Native Region: Asia, Africa, and North America, depending on the species

Brief Description
Mulberries are deciduous trees known for their sweet, edible aggregated fruits. The fruits resemble blackberries, starting green, then turning red, and finally dark purple to black when ripe. They have a slightly tart to very sweet flavor, depending on the ripeness and species.
Care Instructions
Mulberry trees are generally hardy and adaptable. They prefer full sun and well-drained soil. They are drought-tolerant once established but benefit from regular watering, especially when fruiting. Pruning is usually done in winter to maintain shape and size, and to remove dead or diseased branches. Fertilization is not always necessary but can be done in early spring if growth is poor.
