Brief Description

Common chickweed is a low-growing annual plant with small, heart-shaped or oval leaves arranged oppositely on sprawling stems. It produces tiny, star-shaped white flowers, typically with five deeply notched petals, giving them the appearance of ten petals. The plant forms dense mats and can be found in disturbed soils.

Care Instructions

This plant is often considered a weed, so cultivated care is usually focused on its removal or containment. If intentionally grown, it prefers moist, well-drained soil in partial to full shade. It can tolerate a variety of soil types. It spreads rapidly, so regular harvesting or monitoring is needed to prevent it from overtaking other plants.
