Hosta (Plantain Lily)
Scientific Name: Hosta (various species and cultivars)
Plant Family: Asparagaceae (formerly Funkiaceae or Liliaceae).
Native Region: East Asia (Japan, China, Korea, and Far East Russia).

Brief Description
Hostas are known for their attractive foliage, which comes in a wide range of sizes, shapes, colors, and textures. This particular variety appears to be a variegated type, featuring green leaves with distinctive white or cream margins. The leaves are broad and heart-shaped, forming dense clumps. Pale purple, bell-shaped flowers are borne on tall scapes rising above the foliage.
Care Instructions
Hostas thrive in part to full shade, with morning sun and afternoon shade being ideal to prevent leaf scorch, especially for variegated varieties. They prefer consistently moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water regularly, especially during dry spells. Fertilize in spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Protect from slugs and snails, which can cause significant damage to the leaves. Divide clumps every few years in spring or fall to maintain vigor.
