San Pedro Cactus
Scientific Name: Echinopsis pachanoi (formerly Trichocereus pachanoi)
Plant Family: Cactaceae
Native Region: Andes Mountains of Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Argentina

Brief Description
The San Pedro cactus is a fast-growing, columnar cactus known for its striking appearance and prominent spines. It typically grows as a multi-stemmed plant, with stems that are light to dark green, glaucous, and can reach several meters in height. The stems have 4 to 9 ribs, usually 6 to 8, with areoles bearing clusters of yellowish to brown spines.
Care Instructions
San Pedro cacti require well-draining soil, bright sunlight (at least 6 hours direct sun daily, though some afternoon shade in very hot climates is beneficial), and moderate watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, especially during cooler months to prevent root rot. They are somewhat frost-hardy but should be protected from prolonged freezing temperatures. Fertilize sparingly during the growing season with a low-nitrogen, high-phosphorus fertilizer.
