Garlic prefers full sun and well-drained, fertile soil with plenty of organic matter. Plant cloves in the fall or early spring, about 2 inches deep and 4-6 inches apart. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, and harvest when the lower leaves begin to turn brown and dry.
