Snake Plant
Scientific Name: Sansevieria trifasciata
Plant Family: Asparagaceae
Native Region: West Africa, from Nigeria to Congo

Brief Description
The Snake Plant, also known as Mother-in-law's Tongue, is an evergreen perennial plant forming dense stands, spreading by its creeping rhizome. Its stiff, upright, sword-like leaves are dark green with light green or yellow banding/striping, growing directly from the base. The leaves can be several feet tall.
Care Instructions
Snake plants are very low maintenance and tolerant of neglect. They prefer bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, especially in winter. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems. They thrive in well-draining soil and can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, but prefer warmer conditions. Fertilize lightly during the growing season (spring/summer) if desired.
Medicinal Value
We do not currently provide medicinal value for plant identifications.
