Similar Species

Parietaria officinalis (Upright Pellitory) is similar but has a more erect growth habit and larger leaves. Green Alkanet (Pentaglottis sempervirens) has similar leaves but blue flowers.

Interesting Facts

In Australia, it is nicknamed 'Asthma Weed' due to its highly allergenic pollen. The plant's name 'Parietaria' comes from the Latin 'paries', meaning 'wall'.
