Common Sunflower (Dried Seed Head)
Scientific Name: Helianthus annuus
Plant Family: Asteraceae
Native Region: North America

Brief Description
The image shows a dried, post-bloom seed head of a sunflower. In its living state, it features a large central disk of florets surrounded by bright yellow ray petals. When dried, the petals fall away, leaving a honeycomb-like structure filled with edible seeds.
Care Instructions
Sunflowers require full sunlight (6-8 hours daily) and well-drained soil. They are drought-toleant once established but benefit from regular watering during heat spells. To harvest seeds as shown, allow the head to turn brown and the back to turn yellow/brown on the stalk.
Medicinal Value
We do not currently provide medicinal value for plant identifications.
