Brief Description

An annual grass that grows in tufts, typically reaching heights of 6 to 24 inches. It features drooping, branched seed heads that turn a characteristic reddish-brown color as they mature and dry out, with long awns (bristles) attached to the seeds.

Care Instructions

Generally considered a highly invasive weed in North America; intentionally growing it is discouraged. It thrives in disturbed soils, full sun, and dry conditions. It requires no maintenance as it is a prolific self-seeder and drought-tolerant.
