Brief Description

A medium-sized deciduous tree reaching 40-60 feet tall. It is characterized by its large, rough, sandpaper-like green leaves with double-serrated margins and its distinctive thick, mucilaginous inner bark.

Care Instructions

Thrives in moist, well-draining soils with full sun to partial shade. It is relatively hardy but can be susceptible to Dutch Elm Disease. Once established, it requires minimal maintenance beyond occasional pruning to remove dead or diseased wood.
